Speaker:

District Governor Bret Gerdes

DG Bret Gerdes and his wife Natalie joined us for breakfast.  Bret talked about the global relationships that are part of Rotary.  He noted the four things Rotary has to offer:

1. Global Networking

2. Social activities

3. Learning and practicing leadership skills

4. "The Feel Good Factor" - knowing you've given others a hand up

He also reported on things that the District 5320 staff is doing for us this year.

1.  New on-line club directory- members can access and update their information

2. Monthly President's Dinners- with teaching, fellowship and promised surprises this year.

3. District Awards- no more awards books- each club will be assessed by the Assistant District Governors who will write up 1-2 page summaries of club events and activities and awards will be given based on these evaluations.

Joe Brand has committed to get club membership up to 50 members this year and the district will do everything it can to support our growth.

On the Rotary Foundation - the world needs us to have a strong foundation to support our global efforts to eradicate Polia, provide educational opportunities and clean water

On Polio- there are still four countries that still have active Polio- we need to keep up our efforts to eradicate the disease- Bill Gates has increased his donation to $355 Million- so attend the Angel Game on August 29th and help meet our goals.

Our new District Governor also asked us to support all the major District events this year and attend the International Meeting next June in Montreal, Canada.
