The day began with an eloquent invocation by Bill Baker, the Pledge of Allegiance led by the group and a rousing rendition, one of many to come by the way, of "Roll Out the Barrell" led by Greg Mills.

Joe Brand announced a food drive that will occur at Ralph's Markets throughout the district on August 22nd from 10-2 PM
He also reminded the group there will be a tree nursery/shed project on that same morning at 8-11 AM at the Serano Water District yard on Lincoln Ave.
Angel tickets for the game on August 29th are still available- George Poulos purchased 4 today and 4 more remain at $28 each- this is the game to help meet the $355 Million Gates Challenge.
Teri Brooks- thanked Diane Rothi and John Broussard who served dinner at the Ronald McDonald House last night
Jane McDonald announced a "Love Pack Filling" on Saturday August 29th at 10Am

John Broussard invited everyone who has worked at the Ronald McDonald House to a party at CHOC Hospital on Sunday Sept 13th from 4-6 PM
Joe Brand is going to set up a run to help support Toys For Tots with the US Marines
Milt Stamos, Bill Baker and Jay Applebaum volunteered to help
Teri Brooks reminded us to remember the children of the Marines on Christmas; the marines work to collect toys for needy kids and often their own children go without toys.

Jeannie Hankins- thanked Bryan and Greg for transporting back packs and announced a $50 donation to the club if she can get 4 people into Club 33 at Disneyland- several members volunteered to contact friends.
Mark Schmidt just returned from a trip to Denmark and Sweden, where he visited 4 prior Au Pairs
Steven Pollack gave us a warning--- beware Cameron Pollack has his driver's permit

Jane McDonald has over 1000 composition booklets for the backpacks
Linda Bartroom had a family reunion in Las Vegas and presented at a Particle Physics meeting
Greg Mills visited Indiana and Illinois and had great weather and a good time
Eric Sense told the group we had collected another $76 for Polio Plus
Juliana Ditty is attending Rotary Meetings in Nevada City, CA and helping with a fund raiser at the County fair- serving pulled pork and barbeque sandwiches.
She is still working to help create a Rotary Club in Basra Iraq

Lesslie Giacobbi and Ken Fischer have worked to create a data base of potential corporate sponsors- many letters have been sent
Jill Kuli and Pam Dunn are working on the event booklet
Paul Hudson agreed to sponsor the tickets
Jim Brodsky and Eric Sense bought the inside front cover
Bryan Nash will sponsor the back cover with a half page add- the upper portion of the back cover will be used to write the bid numbers
Lesslie Giacobbi will buy the 1st page
Jim Glenn and Bob Bell purchased the last page
Donation list was passed around- each member is required to donate or obtain a donation worth $250 and a business card size ad
Greg has gotten the Disney House Band to donate a performance and 49ers ticktets
Lesslie Giacobbi and Bill Baker will donate a gourmet dinner to be prepared at the home of the winning bidder
Bill Baker will help prepare Thank You letters to all donors
Jill Kuli will help put on a Puttin' On the Ritz event
Next meeting of the Oktoberfest Committee will be at Jeannie Hankin's home- suggested date
