Happy Thanksgiving
Greetings as you prepare for the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday next week. This week's meeting began with a powerful thought for the day by Bob Kreisberg, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Neil Peake and a sorry attempt at the Air Force Hymn by our not ready for prime time singers.

Jill Kuli- announced that thanks to her son Mark the kids from Project Hope School, who were attending Outdoor Science School, were able to go in style with T-shirts provided by the Kulis with an assist by Teri Brooks.
John Broussard had several announcements:
Regarding the Ronald McDonald House Dinners
- the budget per meal is $150-180
- a sign up list for the next six months dinners was passed around
John asked that we think about buying toys for the siblings of the kids
please bring an unwrapped gift with your name on it - age and gender based
John thanked the recent group who served dinner- Sylvan and Barbara Swartz, Neal Peake and his wife and Jeannie Hankins.
Christmas Eve dinner will be provided by Steve and Lainey Stern, Jay and Terry Applebaum
Julie Horvath- Is looking for sponsors for the Boy Scout Troop 850 Boat Parade T-shirts
they need 15 sponsors at $100 each - sponsors will get recognition on the T-shirt.
about 175 T-shirts will be available for sale at the Boat Parade.
Steven Pollack- announced the "Dancing with Heroes" event on April 17th at Camp Pendelton-

Greg Mills is still trying to get the names and addresses of your Oktoberfest guests so thank you letters can be sent and we can have the information for future events. Please get him the information at your earliest convenience.
Bob Meyer spoke about the Mail Train and sending boxes to the troops in Afghanistan.
With a little help from our friends at the schools our club has already sent 46 boxes, Bob has committed us to send 100 boxes. Now its our turn!!
Ken Meyer says to check out the www.abitofhome.org website for information on what items to purchase and how to send the box to Afghanistan-
Pam Dunn- reminded us that the Villa Park Boat Parade is on Sunday December 13th- we need cooks and servers to help out. Teri Brooks says our booth will be in the same location as our Halloweenfest Booth and the menu will include- hot dogs, brats, hamburgers, chilli/chillidogs and the combo with chips and a drink. Set up will be at 2:30 PM . See you there!!
Ken Meyer introduced Lawrie Solberg from the Anaheim Club who has been appointed to spearhead the Operation A Bit of Home Program for her club. She is also interested in getting some trees from our tree nursery and will be contacting Tom Davis to see if we can help her out.
Happy Bucks:
Bob Kreisberg- had $200 from his Last Man Standing Football donated to the club to purchase gifts for the families at the Ronald McDonald House. He and his wife Fran will do all the shopping .
The pool donates $175,000 annually to charitable causes.
Teri Brooks thanked Jay Applebaum for coming to the aid of Steve Sternwho received 2nd Degree burns on his foot last Sunday while preparing briskets for the upcoming Holiday Home Tour.
Steve is doing well and healing nicely.
Teri also let it be known that the Villa Park Spartans are in the CIF playoffs and facing the Edison High Team on Friday. Good Luck Spartans!
Rick Barnettwas happy that 100 marines will be in Villa Park for Thanksgiving. Money has also been donated by Rick to the Pendelton Area YMCA and they are giving out $50 Walmart Gift Certificates to the marine families in need. More donations are needed so contact Rick if you want to donate toward the cause.
John Broussard gave a report on his impression of the last Villa Park City Council Meeting that he watched on VP Cable- BORING!! He thanked city council member Brad Reesefor tolerating the interminable meeting and noted some of high drama that occurred... arguements over a mailbox.
Jeannie Hankinsis returning from a trip to Georgia, where she did make-ups in two Savanah Rotary Clubs.
- she also wanted to recognize Mark Schmidt for 30 years of perfect attendance at Rotary
- She also was happy to see the write up about the club in the Villa Park Magazine
- a special presentation was made and Jeannie formally presented the club with theH 100% Paul Harris Banner- Thank you Jeannie for all the work you put into this accomplishment.

Milt Stamos took time to brag on his football clan which has had an outstanding season.
Son Chris who coaches a Pop Warner Team with a winning record and grandsons James, a Freshman Player at Villa Park(9 and 1 record) and Grandson Alex, a starter on the winning Mission Viejo High Team were all mentioned.

Juli has been in the fitness industry since age 16- here advice to the club was to not forget about investing some time in yourself..."Burn Brightly without Burning Out."
She was here to speak to us about a project called Operation Christmas Child- that has outreach to 130 nations worldwide. The goal of the project is to a shoe box with hygeine items, school supplies, toys and candy - spending no more than $10 per box plus $7 shipping fee. 8 million boxes were sent last year this year the goal is 8.1 million. When you have filled the box it can be dropped off at Juli's gym at 505 S Villa Real Dr. in Anaheim Hills- the deadline for dropping the box of is November 25th so get hopping. The boxes are delivered to children in some areas who have never received a present. Each box also contains a message in the child's native tongue about the church and the life of Jesus.
