Speaker: Greg Mills

Greg just returned from the International Rotary Convention in Montreal, Canada and was very excited to talk about the experience.  The event was attended by 18,000 Rotarians from all over the world and Greg found the host city to be very hot, but also friendly. He was very impressed with the fervor that attendees felt for Rotary.

The new Rotary International President for 2010-2011 is Ray Klingensmith an attorney from Kirksville, Missouri,  who we learned is a tireless worker for Rotary and the disabled.  His theme for this year is "Building Communities Bridging Continents."

Greg was very impressed with the "House Of Friendship" where many of the projects centered on clean water.  He also noted that there were many Interact and Rotaract Members at the event.

He went on to discuss all the different projects that are available to the club.  He wants to have more fun-filled, hands-on projects this year and get the spouses involved.

Next year's convention will be in New Orleans in May.  Greg encouraged president-elect Bryan Nash to make his reservations early because many of the events at this year's convention were sold out well in advance of the meeting.  Greg  strongly advocates  that every Rotarian should attend at least one International Convention to get a better sense of  the global outreach of Rotary and the roll that local clubs play.
