District Conference Mar 27, 2009 The District 5320 Conference was held at the Newport Hyatt. Rotarians and their spouses got to meet and greet fellow Rotarians at the Host Hospitlity Night and then hear inspirational and informative talks during the next two days. Friendly Center Food Drive Mar 19, 2009 Mark Schmidt delivers canned and dry foods to the Friendly Center in Orange. Club members generously donated the food for the needy. Lovepacks for Tecate Orphans Feb 27, 2009 VP Rotarians Steven Pollack and Jay Applebaum brave the trip to Tecate to deliver 100 "Lovepacks" for orphans. Each backpack contained school supplies, daily hygeine supplies and a few toys. Rotary Song Competition Feb 26, 2009 6 students from Villa Park High and Lutheran High vie for the coveted song competition- there were two categories- Musical Theater and Classical. Our first place winners Shannon and Melissa Glascow and Andy Zanka will go on to compete in the finals on March 22nd at UCI. Interesting neither contestant was a native enlish speaker-but both did an outstanding job. Our winner will go on to compete against other students in the district. Valentine's Day Dinner Feb 14, 2009 Villa Park Rotarians and neighbors enjoy a gourmet meal at the home of Steve and Lainey Stern- Chefs included Robbie and Elizabeth Usher, Betsy and Jim Little and Steve and Lainie- Great food,wines and fellowship.
